Dogpile

Dogpile Reviews: Most of us have heard about Bing, Yahoo and even Google search engine however how many of you have heard about Dogpile. Back in the day Dogpile was one of the best search engine site for people to use. Their site makes finding information online very easy. Dogpile began operation back in December 1996. Their site was apart of Aaron Flin and later acquired by Go2.net. Which was in turn sold to Info space. From May 2000 to Jun 2008. Dogpile was primarily symbolize by a dog mascot. The Name Arfie, the dog was feature in different themes from holidays to seasonal.

Many years ago they were the top search engine that was until Google change their platform around the late 90’s. Now Google is the top search engine and they keep improving their service. That is why it is very hard for other search engines to compete with Google.

Each search engine has it’s own method of searching and each will return different search results. Dogpile looks at all of them, decides which are most relevant to your search. They eliminates duplicates and reveals them to you. In the end, you get a list of search results more complete than anywhere else on the Web. They are a meta search engine. Meaning that it gets results from multiple search engines and directories and then presents them combined to the user. Dogpile currently gets it’s search results from search engines such as Bing, Yahoo and even Google. Users will see Arfie on the front page.

Info Space owned meta search engine Dogpile. Which recently refreshed it’s homepage and made other, minor changes, published the results of it’s second search overlap study. The first study, released back in 2004 and commissioned from the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University. Had found that 84.9 percent of search results on search engines were unique to one search engine. Also were not found on competitor sites. They offer a lot of very useful information and their site is very easy to use. If you would like to give their search engine a try then please feel free to click on this website link down below. Trust us you will love using their site because they are making their way back at being one of the best search engine sites

Summary

We had found that dogpile.com search engine is very easy to use and they offer a lot of very useful information. What we really like about their site is the fact that their search engine don’t repeat the same search. Also that their search engine is free to use. Their time saving philosophy of meta search is so important to them that they even inspired their name! In rugby, players come together and pile on top of one another. This is exactly what dogpile.com meta search technology does. They compiles all the best search results in one easy to access place!

From 2004, dogpile.com added a link that gave the user a search query. That corresponded with the theme to their site which was supporting. Dogpile.com started a campaign back in 2009 to use proceeds from site traffic to raise in the US. Around $2 million for animals in need. In July 2011, dogpile.com was ranked the 853th most popular website in the U.S. They use to be one of the top search engines. However dogpile.com is making a come back, by using a growing index and a clean and quick presentation. That is testimony to it’s halcyon days. They are working very hard to try and get their spot back being the top search engine. In time they may be able to achieve their goal.

Their homepage is relatively clean and uncluttered, with a good choice of colors. The search bar is squarely in the middle of the homepage. With textual tab choices right on top of that. Below Arfie, there are links to the Toolbar, Joke of the Day, Search Spy. A way to view either family, friends or unfiltered real time Web searches, Maps. The study involved Bing, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft and Ask, and also found that among 35,941 random user defined queries. Just over 2 percent of first page search results were the same across the search engines. The 2008 study has found further divergence and even less overlap. Only 1.9 percent first page search results were the same across the search engines.

They offer a lot of very useful information and their site is very easy to use. If you would like to give their search engine a try then please feel free to click on this website link down below. Trust us you will love using their search engine because they are making their way back at being one of the best search engine sites.
